Meet Dr. Tostado
For Dr. Gilberto Tostado Escobosa, dentistry runs in the family. His father was also a dentist in Agua Prieta and the original founder of COREI Dental. He was the inspiration for Dr. Tostado to enter the field of dentistry.
Dr. Tostado has fond memories of seeing his father come home full of smiles after a day at the office because he got so much joy from helping people. This left a deep impression on Dr. Tostado and kindled a desire to help others similarly. To this day, his favorite part of practicing dentistry is seeing how pleased his patients are with the outcome of their treatment.
After receiving his dental degree at Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara, Dr. Tostado continued his education at Centro de Investigación y Especialización en Rehabilitación Oral (CIERO) in Mexico City, where he acquired his prosthodontic specialist training. He then attended advanced restorative training in implant dentistry at USC in Los Angeles, as well as other implant dentistry training in Spain and Germany.
Dr. Tostado also received special dental technician training, so he has extensive experience in creating restorations with his own hands. He now personally oversees the design of restorations in our on-site dental laboratory here at COREI.
Dr. Tostado constantly expands his knowledge through continuing education courses and advanced training. He has attended a course at the University of Southern California and traveled abroad to Spain and Germany for further studies in dental implant placement and restoration. Every winter, Dr. Tostado attends an annual meeting of the American Prosthodontic Society in Chicago.
Dr. Tostado is respected around the world for his expertise, and gets called on from time to time to lecture to other dentists, delivering at least three professional lectures each year.
Professional Memberships and Honors
There are a couple of international dental organizations that recognize outstanding dentists throughout the world. Dr. Tostado is one of a very few dentists to have fellowships from both of these organizations. The Pierre Fauchard Academy was created to recognize “the most outstanding dentists in every country in the world” of the “highest ethical, moral, and professional standards.” He has been granted a fellowship in that organization. Also, Fellowship in the International College of Dentists is granted to dentists in recognition of “outstanding professional achievement, meritorious service and dedication.” Dr. Tostado was also selected for that honor.

Dr. Tostado’s Treatment Philosophy
At COREI, Dr. Tostado and his team work with a focus on preserving natural teeth through minimally invasive dentistry. When addressing your dental health concern, Dr. Tostado will recommend the most conservative treatment possible in order to save your natural tooth structure.
Prevention is another key value at COREI. Preventive oral care will preserve the gums and bone tissue in your mouth which provide critical support for your teeth. Dr. Tostado has an associate at COREI who is a periodontist- a gum specialist who can help you to treat and prevent issues with the gums or bone tissue around your teeth.
As a prosthodontist, Dr. Tostado specializes in restoring teeth to a state of improved functionality and beauty. And to Dr. Tostado, there is no choosing between functionality and beauty; these elements go hand-in-hand when rebuilding smiles. Modern dental treatments such as dental implants allow specialists like Dr. Tostado to design well-functioning smiles without compromising on esthetics.
Outside the Office
Dr. Tostado enjoys spending time with his family, including his wife, Lupita, who is the office administrator here at COREI. Together they have raised three sons, two of whom have also become dental specialists like their father.
Golf, fishing, bowling, and horseback riding are Dr. Tostado’s favorite leisure activities.
The Pierre Fauchard Academy was created to recognize “the most outstanding dentists in every country in the world” of the “highest ethical, moral, and professional standards.” Similarily, Fellowship in the International College of Dentists is granted to dentists in recognition of “outstanding professional achievement, meritorious service and dedication.” Dr. Tostado has been elected a Fellow of each of these academies. Very few dentists in the world have been honored with both fellowships.
To ensure a world-class level of care for all procedures, Dr. Tostado has added to his practice board-certified specialists in periodontics and endodontics.
